Ortodoncia
Es la técnica más usual en esta rama de la odontología. Su objetivo es corregir cualquier anomalía en el desarrollo óseo o dental de los pequeños. Este proceso debe realizarse cuando la dentadura del menor esta compuesta por las piezas definitivas, es decir, a partir de los 11 ó 12 años.
Pulpectomía
Consiste en la eliminación completa del tejido pulpar de la corona y la raíz mediante una intervención endodóntica. Para realizar este proceso, que es similar a la endodoncia en pacientes adultos, es necesario aplicar anestesia local. Antes de efectuar la intervención, se examinará la profundidad de las caries a través de una radiografía.
Obturación
La obturación es un tratamiento destinado a restaurar la forma anatómica de los dientes dañados por las caries. Los padres suelen pensar que este tipo de lesiones no tienen gran relevancia al tratarse de dientes de leche. Simplemente, basta con esperar a que la pieza se caiga y se regenere por su cuenta. Es una práctica errónea muy extendida. Es precisamente en esta edad cuando la dentadura se forma y una infección puede comprometer la posición de los dientes definitivos.
