Tras analizar los resultados, los expertos concluyeron que la enfermedad periodental aumenta en las personas con artritis. Esto se debe a que determinadas bacterias de la boca generan las proteínas que desencadenan la artritis reumatoide. Estudios recientes, también, han demostrado que la periodontitis también se asocia a un mayor riesgo de sufrir enfermedades cardiovasculares. En este sentido, las investigaciones han encontrado que ambas patologías comparten factores de riesgo como la diabetes.
Nuevos avances
